The 2008 BlackBerry Developer Conference offered three days of technical learning, exploration and sharing amongst the best and brightest in mobile development.
With keynote speakers, one-on-one developer meetings, hands-on labs and 70 technical sessions, the 2008 conference saw a lot, with sessions delivered in a range of formats, skill levels and topics
.NET Specific Sessions for 2008
Session E16: Extending Enterprise ASP .NET Applications to BlackBerry - this session provided insight on how to extend thin-client
Microsoft® ASP.NET application technologies to the BlackBerry® smartphone. Emphasis was be placed on security and
integration with existing investments in applications and core portal technologies.
Session B12: Developing Mission-Critical Applications for BlackBerry: A Case Study - attendees learned how a major European
BlackBerry customer integrated with a legacy field resource management system using .NET web services. Discussion
touched upon what lessons the customer learned from undertaking a significant BlackBerry solution development project
with demanding timescales.
Session E02: Introduction to the BlackBerry Plug-In for Microsoft Visual Studio - attendees learned how to easily discover
and interface with enterprise Web Services built within the Microsoft® .NET Framework, plus quick ways to build
and deploy custom applications based on these Web Services.
Session F05: Technology Exploration: Component-Based Architectures for Seamless Enterprise Integration - this session explored
the trends in enterprise application development. Discussion included popular enterprise application platforms, such
as Microsoft .NET, to understand how the BlackBerry platform can offer seamless integration to simplify the development,
distribution and management of custom mobile applications in the enterprise.
Session W02: BlackBerry Tools for Web Developers - this session covered the tooling available to build web content for BlackBerry
smartphones and how to apply this knowledge to many common projects. Discussion focused on .NET Visual Studio web development for the BlackBerry platform, among others.
